Visitor management for chemical and process plants

15 Sept 2026 5 min read

Few sites carry as much safety weight as a chemical or process plant. Hazardous materials, strict zones and heavy regulatory scrutiny mean that letting the wrong person — or an un-inducted person — through the gate is a serious risk, not a paperwork slip.

What is at stake

  • Hazardous processes where access must be tightly controlled.
  • Contractors for maintenance, turnarounds and inspections.
  • Regulatory expectations around who accessed what, and when.
  • Gates and zones where connectivity is not guaranteed.

Induction and verification at the gate

Two controls carry the load: confirming who a contractor really is, and confirming they completed the required safety induction before entry. Binding both to check-in stops an unqualified or un-inducted person at the gate rather than on the plant.

Offline and audit-ready

Verification has to work offline at remote gates, and every entry must land in an exportable log for safety and compliance audits — the same rigour as pharma and energy sites.

Certopact for process industries

Certopact Access manages inductions, screening and a searchable log, and Certopact Entry verifies identity online or offline. This complements, not replaces, process-safety and environmental regulation.
